“Burt’s transition is like losing a family member," Warwick said in a statement. "These words I’ve been asked to write are being written with sadness over the loss of my Dear Friend and my Musical Partner."

Warwick also reflected on the happiness Bacharach brought to her life.

"On the lighter side we laughed a lot and had our run ins, but always found a way to let each other know our family, like roots, were the most important part of our relationship," she added. "My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, letting them know he is now peacefully resting and I too will miss him.”

he used to give her such difficult arrangement of notes to sing. She made it sound easy but it wasn't

I wonder if Aretha Franklin and Karen Carpenter will 'break their silence' on his death ?

by Anonymousreply 2February 10, 2023 3:13 AM

"Transition?"

Really?

When did people start saying "transition" instead of death or passing?

Who cares about Dionne? Has Susan Dey made a statement?

by Anonymousreply 4February 10, 2023 3:25 AM

They were a legendary pairing and produced such high quality beautiful music.

In other words, in the Susan Dey tradition she wasn't going to say a word, but now she feels obligated to do so.

However deep down, she's had sufficient.

"These words I've been asked to write"

Love this. There is something I find quite tacky about the way that social media has made it so that celebrities are now essentially required to make some type of comment upon the death of other celebrities they once worked with.

It's like of my dad died and I called up a bunch of his former co-workers from 50 years ago to demand they say nice things about him.

Tony Bennett eulogized Burt?! Who are they kidding?

by Anonymousreply 9February 10, 2023 3:57 AM

I thought Op's photo was Jamie Lee Curtis.

What was Bacharach's biggest hit? I'm guessing it was either Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, Close To You or Arthur's Theme.

Fuck off Dionne. You still owe me a 100 bucks from 1965 when you were out of smokes, Tab, and Afro Sheen.

And no, licking my pussy in front of Dean Martin’s dinner guests in Palm Springs in 1967 doesn’t count as payment. That’s just how I say hello.

I think in the case of Warwick / Bacharach it's much deeper than 'once worked together'. He gave her a career in the 60s, and she did the same for him. He shot to popularity in the 60s because of Warwick singing his songs, and Warwick shot to the top because of the songs he wrote especially for her. It's much more than 'once working together'.

Tony Bennett can barely eke out a full sentence.

I remember one concert special they did together, and backstage he embraced her and said, "This is my little sister."

They had a big brother/little sister relationship.

This is the second major loss for Miss Warwick.

Just a few weeks ago, Philly DJ Jerry Blavat (the Geator With the Heater, the Boss With the Hot Sauce) died. Blavat relentlessly promoted her first single as well as subsequent singles, and Miss Warwick has acknowledged the part Blavat played in her career. So much so, she delivered the eulogy at Blavat's funeral mass just two weeks ago.

Thoughts and prayers, Miss W.

I'm just glad that my dear friend died before completing his transition.

Because at that age he'd have looked like Cicely Tyson, God rest her sole. Because she sure knew how to cook fish.

R19 he was in the documentary about Dionne that just came out.

Couldn't figure out who the fuck he was, thanks for clearing that up

R21 You clearly think you and your little nickname are hilarious. You seem to be alone in your opinion.
