During a panel debate over Miranda Lambert scolding a group of concertgoers for taking photos during her Las Vegas residency show, cohost Sunny Hostin said that she's "going to take as many selfies as I want if I paid $757 for tickets," which prompted Goldberg to clap back.
"You know what? Stay home," the Oscar-winning Ghost actress said. "If you're going to spend $750 to come to my concert, then give me the respect of watching me while I do my thing, or don't come."
After Hostin said that she likes to keep memories from concerts on her phone to rewatch, Goldberg got up from her moderator seat and said, "Turn on the television, girl."
As the 67-year-old walked toward the audience, Joy Behar asked where she was going. "I'm leaving y'all!" Goldberg declared while making her way to the first row of seats in the studio audience.

Huh. Does that mean she quit?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 18, 2023 11:47 PM |
She’s needed on the SAG picket line. This topic was probably one of the sticking points for the five figure a year employees of the entertainment industry!
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 18, 2023 11:52 PM |
So disingenuous in the reporting. There was a 91 year old audience member that Whoopi stepped over to take a birthday selfie with her. The lady was happy and thanked Whoopi. Whoopi didn’t leave the area or studio.
Why was the full explanation cut short to create drama. I sense that directing and scripting the panel has been messy since the writers’ strike started.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 18, 2023 11:52 PM |
I don't know if Whoopi walked off but I agree with her. Everybody is trying to make an Instagram or Tik Tok moment, just put the damn phone/cameras down and be present.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 18, 2023 11:57 PM |
Whoopie herself loves attention. I sat through The View today because it was on in the Drs office. I've never liked that show and, my God all of them are overbearing and ridiculous. I agree and disagree with her. $700.00 and some dollars is a hell of a lot of money to see a concert. If I went to see Pearl Jam or Aerosmith, I don't think I'd film them, I might take a picture though. I can see that performers might not like it, but too fucking bad. Then again R4 is right, just enjoy it. Oh God, if only I could go see them and had good weed and a flask of brandy, I probably wouldn't even think of it. I haven't done that since the 70's. I guess I'm out of touch, but Whkooie, just shut up.

If they don't want you taking selfies at a concert why don't they say so when you buy the tickets?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 19, 2023 12:51 AM |
Is it because recently phones have thrown onstage at the performers?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 19, 2023 12:54 AM |
Time for elder Whoopi to go to the retirement home.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 19, 2023 12:57 AM |
The bigger question is what idiot would pay $700 to see Miranda Lambert?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 19, 2023 12:58 AM |
Ummm, who’s Miranda Lambert? 🤷🏻♂️
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 19, 2023 12:59 AM |
The wildest part of this story is that somebody paid $750 to see a Miranda Lambert concert.

R11 At least she shows up!

When was the last time Whoopsie did a concert??
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 19, 2023 3:08 AM |
Maybe concerts should start having designated “selfie moments” or something, with the requirement being phones are kept away or discreet the rest of the time.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 19, 2023 3:11 AM |
Learn to live in the moment. They wouldn’t create these bans if people didn’t videotape the entire concert and dumb ass GEN Zers throwing shit on the stage injuring performers and other people. Humanity is literally become a parody of itself.

I detest Sunny Hostin!! So smug and full of herself - bragging about her Catholicism and her legal career. When they let her read her stupid "legal note" disclaimers, she pulls a dopey fixed expression to tell us that "Trump has denied all charges" or whatever. CANNOT STAND HER!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 19, 2023 3:42 AM |
Every time Sunny opens her mouth it's about being black and the country being racist. It's exhausting.

Would it kill Sunny to straighten her hair once in a while? A couple of years back, she always wore it straight.

Whoopie Goldberg should be on the SAG picket line.

It was funny how Whoopi, who had told an elderly audience member that she would get a selfie with Whoopi during a commercial break, broke the fourth wall during the show to give the selfie on tape live. It was a beautiful coopting of the Hot Topic.

What determination. Don’t let anything get in your way, girl, not even an elderly stroke victim!

Thank you for the needed clarification, r28.

Miranda Lambert was married to that big dumb redneck who dumped her for Gwen Stefani

The View is silly and it fuels the culture of intolerance. It essentially fans the fire. And it’s dumb.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 19, 2023 1:05 PM |
I would've guess ML tickets were $50 - tops. I don't necessarily disagree that the phone thing is kind of obnoxious (and maybe violates some rules about recording performances), but it's just the way of the world now. Deal with it

R32, The View is a part of ABC News and the first half hour focuses on political Hot Topics. Sorry your don't get it.

Remember when Madonna didn't want industry types in the front row of her concert sitting there with crossed arms?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 19, 2023 3:42 PM |
I agree with Whoopi, but her behavior is ridiculous. It is childish and unprofessional of her to leave the set during a taping over someone disagreeing with her.

Barbara Walters had many flaws, God knows; but she was always a professional on set.

I watched the clip.
Ridiculously staged and Miss Whoopi lumbers into the audience like there's a sack of really heavy potatoes under that tarp she's wearing.
This show and its format are clearly played out.

The only reason it's under the news division is because of Baba. It's supposed to be the views of four women with different backgrounds on all subjects of public interest. When have they ever had a panelist who actually spoke from valid experience on politics? Baba, Ana, Meredith, Nicolle...who else? Star and Sunny and Star are able to do legalese.

It is sad that, at concerts, the majority seem to have their phones up, recording the concert.
I came across this recording of a '99 Cranberries (doing Zombie) concert in Paris. The crowd was totally into the performance.
Yes, I realize someone recorded it, but I think it was professionally recorded.
Anyway, RIP Dolores O'Riordan.

If you don't want people taking photos during your concernts, you simply require them to seal up their phones before entering the venue. I'm always ahead of the curve!

Why does her hair texture or styling bother you enough to comment the way you did, R22?
I've never watched one episode of that show, but I've encountered people like you for most of my life.

Unenforceable rules are bad rules. The US isn't a country that cooperates with procedures like that.
